Title:  “Talking to Children About the COVID-19 Pandemic”

Co-Presenters:  Dr. Carlin Barnes, MD and Tamera A. Davis, MA, LPC, NCC.

Dr. Barnes. is a Board certified and licensed child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. For the past eighteen years, she has practiced child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry while delivering quality, compassionate, and excellent clinical care in a variety of settings. 

Tamera Davis is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor and owner of a teletherapy private practice covering Houston and surrounding areas. For the past 10 years, she has provided mental health services in diverse populations that includes persons with intellectual disabilities, tobacco cessation treatment, in-patient clinical counseling and college & career counseling.

Description:  This webinar will provide an in-depth discussion of various effective approaches on how parents, caregivers, educators, and clinicians can talk to kids about the COVID-19 pandemic in the context of developmental stages and theory (from birth to late adolescence).  

Areas of particular focus will include the following:

·  How to help children deal with pandemic related stress, anxiety, and depression

·  How to identify pandemic related clinical concerns

·  Treatment interventions and resources

The webinar will conclude with a question and answer session.
