Presenter: Michael G. DeVoll, M.Ed., LPC-S
Workshop description: Often, therapists feel under-prepared for working with clients from the LGBTQ communities, especially when those clients are adolescents. This workshop will look at some of the basic ethical issues of working with this population as outlined in the LGBQQIA Competencies and the Transgender Competencies, developed by the Association of LGBT Issues in Counseling (a division of the American Counseling Association), and compared with the ACA Code of Ethics and the Texas LPC Ethical Code. The discussion will include developmental models of both adolescence and LGBTQ identities.
